Egypt’s Ministry of Awqaf and Information Authority Collaborate to Counter Extremism and Misinformation

Dr. Osama Al-Azhari, Egypt’s Minister of Awqaf, welcomed Ambassador Alaa Youssef, head of the General Authority for Information, at the Ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital. The meeting focused on enhancing collaborative efforts between the Ministry and the Authority.

The discussions included exploring avenues for joint cooperation at both national and international levels. The two sides agreed to strengthen coordination in highlighting the Ministry’s efforts globally to promote enlightened thought and to raise awareness of its intellectual and cultural initiatives. Key initiatives mentioned included the “International Islamic Thought Forum” and the “Cairo Document on Islam and Urban Philosophy,” which emerged from the 36th International Conference of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs.

Furthermore, both parties emphasized the importance of integrating efforts among national institutions to promote sound awareness, reinforce values of belonging and citizenship, counter extremist ideologies, and combat misinformation in foreign media.
