Ahmad Shobair Outlines Al Ahly’s Preparation Plan for Upcoming Season
Ahmad Shobair, former goalkeeper for Al Ahly and the Egyptian national team, has revealed key details regarding the club’s preparation plan for the upcoming season and its stance on participating in African competitions.
During a recent radio interview on On Sport FM, Shobair explained that Al Ahly’s management has decided to divide the preparation period into two phases. The first phase will commence without the international players, focusing instead on non-international squad members and several promising young talents who have caught attention recently.
Among those expected to get a chance with the first team is Omar Sayed Moawad, as part of the club’s strategy to monitor emerging players and provide them with opportunities to showcase their abilities during training.
Shobair further noted that a final decision regarding the promotion of these young players to the first team has not yet been made. The management prefers to wait until a new head coach is appointed to discuss the player file and make informed decisions.
On another note, Shobair addressed the topic of African participation, confirming that discussions had taken place within the Confederation of African Football (CAF) about potentially increasing the number of clubs from certain countries in the CAF Champions League.
However, he clarified that this proposal has not been implemented yet and has been postponed, meaning that the current system for continental competitions will remain in place for now.
In conclusion, Shobair affirmed that Al Ahly will participate in the CAF Confederation Cup next season based on the current regulations set by CAF.
