Carlos Moya Predicts Major Surprises in 2026 World Cup, Praises Salah and Eto’o as Africa’s Best

Former Argentine star Carlos Moya shared his insights on the leading contenders for the 2026 World Cup title, highlighting that Argentina, Brazil, Spain, and France are the favorites. He also named Morocco and Portugal as potential dark horses due to their significant progress in recent years.

During his appearance on the program “Stadium Al-Mohar,” Moya noted that Argentina’s quest to retain the global title will not be an easy task. He pointed out that several players have recently returned from injuries and have yet to regain full fitness. However, he emphasized that the “Tango” team possesses the quality and experience necessary to reach the final.

Moya expressed confidence in Egypt’s ability to deliver a strong performance, asserting that the Pharaohs have a competitive spirit that will help them overcome challenges at the 2026 World Cup. He stressed that players need to maintain confidence and avoid mistakes, believing that the Egyptian team can shine and achieve positive results during the tournament.

He also praised Hossam Hassan’s role as head coach, stating that Hassan brings extensive experience and a winning mentality, which can inspire players to perform their best in the World Cup.

Turning his attention to Mohamed Salah, Moya expressed admiration for the Egyptian star, noting his exceptional abilities and significant impact on matches. He remarked that Salah is uniquely positioned to determine when he will conclude his football career and expressed hope for his continued presence on the field to bring joy to football fans.

Moya concluded his remarks by affirming that Salah and Samuel Eto’o are the best African players he has witnessed throughout his career, considering them among the most prominent figures in African football history.
