Sports Minister Discusses Future of African Football with CAF Secretary General and Abou Rida

On Sunday, Jawhar Nabil, Egypt’s Minister of Youth and Sports, met with Samson Adamu, the Secretary General of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), in a meeting also attended by Hany Abou Rida, President of the Egyptian Football Association. The discussion focused on various issues related to the future and development of football across the African continent.

At the beginning of the meeting, Minister Nabil congratulated Samson Adamu on his new role within CAF, wishing him success in his upcoming responsibilities. He emphasized the importance of ongoing collaboration and coordination between CAF and Egyptian football institutions to serve the interests of the sport at a continental level.

The meeting also addressed updates regarding the new CAF headquarters being constructed in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital. The minister reiterated Egypt’s commitment to providing all necessary support to ensure the project’s completion meets high standards, reflecting Egypt’s pivotal role in advancing African sports.

Jawhar Nabil noted that African football has made significant strides in recent years, both technically and organizationally, praising CAF’s efforts to enhance competition levels and support clubs and national teams across the continent.

The discussions further explored aspirations for African football in the coming years. The Minister expressed his hopes for success for African teams participating in the 2026 World Cup, particularly highlighting the Egyptian national team. He expressed confidence in their ability to achieve impressive results and present a commendable image of African football on the global stage.
