Egyptian Football Association Clarifies Licensing Committees Structure

Written byFerdous Saeed

The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has issued an official statement regarding the formation of its licensing and appeals committees. The EFA confirmed that the selection of committee members adhered to the regulations set forth by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), ensuring their independence from external influences.

The establishment of the committees was approved in 2024, with Judge Mahmoud Abdeen, from the Court of Cassation, appointed as the head of the licensing committee. Meanwhile, Judge Ahmed Badawy, Deputy Head of the Administrative Prosecution Authority, will lead the appeals committee.

The EFA emphasized that both committees operate based on standards and requirements endorsed by CAF, reinforcing principles of transparency and neutrality in all matters related to granting licenses to clubs participating in various competitions.

The association also denied recent rumors suggesting that the heads of these committees hold any positions or memberships within the legal committees of sports clubs, asserting that such claims are unfounded.

It clarified that any confusion surrounding this issue stemmed from similarities in names, confirming no connection between the committee heads and those mentioned in the rumors.
