Egypt’s Transport Ministry Unveils Comprehensive Guide for BRT Bus System

Written byNoha El Shafie

The Egyptian Ministry of Transport has released an informative video detailing how to utilize the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system. This initiative aims to familiarize citizens with the new service, covering everything from reaching the stations to traveling to various destinations via an integrated transport network.

The video illustrates how to access BRT stations through designated pedestrian tunnels and bridges, ensuring safe and easy movement for passengers. It also highlights key interchange stations that connect with the metro, railways, light rail trains, monorails, and interprovincial buses.

According to the ministry, Adly Mansour station serves as the central hub of the network, linking multiple transport modes. Other stations seamlessly integrate with metro lines, railway services, and regional bus terminals, facilitating travel between Greater Cairo and other provinces.

Additionally, the video explains the ticket booking process and the use of electronic entry gates. Ticket prices start at 5 Egyptian pounds for the first four stations and rise to 15 pounds for a complete journey.

The BRT buses operate on a dedicated route that is separated from regular traffic, which enhances punctuality and speed while reducing travel times. The system also includes designated areas for women, seniors, and individuals with disabilities.

This initiative is part of the Ministry of Transport’s plan to expand modern and sustainable public transport options while enhancing integration among various transport methods. The aim is to improve service quality for citizens and alleviate traffic congestion.
