Egyptian Football Association Honors U-17 Team After AFCON Bronze Medal Win
The Egyptian Football Association held a ceremony on Saturday to honor the U-17 national team, led by Engineer Hani Abou Rida, chairman of the association, following their bronze medal achievement at the Africa U-17 Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Under the guidance of head coach Hussein Abdel Latif, the U-17 team not only secured a spot in the FIFA U-17 World Cup but also claimed Egypt’s first bronze medal in the tournament in 29 years. This marks the second medal in Egypt’s history at the Africa U-17 Cup of Nations, with their previous victory dating back to 1997.
The ceremony was attended by several board members of the Egyptian Football Association, including Walid Darwish, Mostafa Abou Zahra, Tarek Aboul Ainain, Mohamed Abou Hussein, and Enas Mazhar. Dr. Mostafa Azam, Secretary General of the association, was also present.
Families of the players from the U-17 national team attended the event as well. The celebration concluded with commemorative photos featuring the coaching staff, players, their families, and association officials to mark this continental achievement.
During the ceremony, Abou Rida announced that bonuses for winning the bronze medal and qualifying for the World Cup would be doubled for both coaching staff and players.
Dr. Walid Darwish, a board member and head of the U-17 delegation in Morocco, presented the bronze medal to Engineer Hani Abou Rida as a token of appreciation for his significant support to the team during this period.
The coaching staff for Egypt’s U-17 team includes Hussein Abdel Latif as head coach, with Abdul Sattar Sabri serving as general coach, Karim Ayman as assistant coach, Amir Abdel Hamid as goalkeeper coach, Alaa Abdel Aziz as director of national teams management, Shadi El Sherif as administrative director, Shadi El Gelany as performance analyst, Mohamed Ezz as physical trainer, Amr Taha as head of medical staff, Mohamed El Shishtawy as physiotherapist, Ahmed Mamdouh as massage therapist, Wagih Hassan as equipment manager, and Ahmed Darwish as media coordinator.
