Written byNoha El Shafie

Egypt has dispatched a shipment of humanitarian aid to Mozambique to assist those affected by recent floods and heavy rains that have caused significant human and material damage in several regions.

The Egyptian Ambassador to Maputo, Mohamed Farghal, officially delivered the aid shipment to Mozambique’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Director of the National Institute for Disaster Management (INGD).

This gesture has been met with widespread appreciation from both the Mozambican government and its citizens. Both parties acknowledged that this support serves as a fundamental pillar in strengthening and deepening the historical and fraternal ties between the two nations.

The initiative reflects Egypt’s commitment to enhancing mechanisms of solidarity and cooperation with African countries, particularly during times of natural disasters and crises. The floods have displaced many residents and directly impacted seven cities, damaging infrastructure and essential services.

The aid shipment includes medical supplies and essential food items aimed at supporting humanitarian relief efforts and alleviating the living conditions faced by families affected by the disaster.

The Egyptian Agency for Partnership for Development emphasized that this initiative demonstrates Egypt’s unwavering approach to supporting African brothers, reinforcing principles of cooperation and humanitarian solidarity, which contribute to enhancing the resilience of affected communities in facing natural disaster impacts and restoring stability.

The agency also expressed its full solidarity with the government and people of Mozambique, wishing for a swift recovery for the affected areas and a return to normalcy as soon as possible.
