World Cup 2026 Opening Ceremony to Feature Shakira and Burna Boy

The opening ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup will take place on June 11 in Mexico City, featuring performances by Colombian star Shakira and Nigerian singer Burna Boy. They will present the official tournament song, “Dai Dai,” during the event.

This highly anticipated performance will occur approximately 90 minutes before the opening match of a historic tournament co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, with 48 teams participating for the first time.

Opening Ceremony Schedule

The opening match will see Mexico face South Africa at 10:00 PM Cairo time, with the ceremony starting at 8:30 PM.

Star-Studded Lineup

The ceremony will showcase a lineup of renowned global music stars performing tracks from the official album of the World Cup 2026. Artists include Alejandro Fernandez, Belinda, Dani Ocean, J Balvin, Lila Downs, Los Angeles Azules, and Maná, alongside Shakira and Burna Boy.

FIFA has emphasized that fans will play a crucial role in the celebration and encourages early attendance. The festivities will kick off at 11:30 AM local time, with stadium gates opening four hours prior to the match.

Supporting Education through Football

The song “Dai Dai” carries a humanitarian message as it supports FIFA’s Global Citizen educational fund, aiming to raise $100 million by the end of the tournament to provide quality education and football opportunities for children worldwide.

Additionally, FIFA announced that Shakira will also perform during a special show at halftime of the World Cup final on July 19.

Multiple Opening Ceremonies Across Host Nations

Mexico will be the first host country to kick off official celebrations before events move on to Canada and the United States. More artist announcements are expected in the coming days.

Shakira’s Upcoming Tour

In related news, Shakira is set to launch a limited series of concerts in the United States this summer as part of her global tour “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran,” followed by performances in Europe in September and October. She will hold a special event in Madrid featuring twelve consecutive shows amid high demand for tickets.

The FIFA organization continues to release tickets for matches at World Cup 2026 through its official platform, offering resale and exchange services for eligible cases according to tournament regulations.
