Egypt’s Sports Minister Urges Stability at Zamalek Amid Ongoing Challenges

Written byFerdous Saeed

Jawhar Nabil, Egypt’s Minister of Youth and Sports, has addressed the potential for resignations from the Zamalek Club board amidst the club’s ongoing crises.

Zamalek is currently facing a complex situation, with 17 sanctions imposed by FIFA resulting in a registration ban, placing significant pressure on both its administrative and technical operations.

According to reports from MODERN MTI, Minister Nabil firmly rejected any notion of board members resigning at this time, emphasizing that such a decision is not on the table.

He urged the Zamalek board to focus on resolving all outstanding issues before contemplating any restructuring or departures.

In related news, reports indicate that Hossam Labib, President of Zamalek, does not intend to run in the upcoming elections. He aims to resolve legal matters and pending lawsuits against the club before stepping down.

Additionally, several board members are reportedly preparing to run in the next elections, including Hisham Nasr, who is considering a candidacy for the presidency.

This comes on the heels of Zamalek winning the Egyptian Premier League title for the 2025-2026 season, despite facing challenging administrative conditions.

However, the team’s participation in next season’s CAF Champions League remains uncertain due to the ongoing FIFA sanctions that include 17 registration bans.
