Wael Gomaa Appointed as Al Ahly’s Director of Football, Essam Sarag Takes Charge of Contracts
Al Ahly Club has announced significant administrative changes within its football sector, appointing Wael Gomaa as the new Director of Football. Additionally, Essam Sarag has been selected as the head of the contracts sector, part of a broader strategy to restructure the club’s technical and administrative framework.
These decisions come as part of the management’s efforts to reorganize the football department following a challenging season characterized by disappointing results and the loss of several championships. The team also faced uncertainty regarding qualification for the upcoming CAF Champions League.
Earlier today, Al Ahly decided to terminate Walid Salah El Din’s role as Director of Football after a nine-month tenure. The club also announced the end of its contract with Danish coach Yes Torup and his coaching staff.
The club’s official statement indicated that the decision to end the contract with the head coach was reached amicably during a meeting involving club officials, the coach, and his agent, along with the legal advisor for the football sector. They agreed to formally conclude their contractual relationship.
The statement further noted that the head coach received all his financial entitlements according to his contract, which was set to run until June 30, 2026, prior to signing a financial settlement that officially ended his association with the club.
Al Ahly expressed gratitude towards Coach Yes Torup and his staff for their contributions during their time with the team, acknowledging their efforts throughout their tenure.
In turn, Yes Torup and his coaching staff conveyed their appreciation to the club management, fans, and players, emphasizing their pride in having been part of Al Ahly and their desire to maintain positive relationships with all members of the organization.
