Ahamd Shobeir Reveals Intriguing Developments at Al Ahly Following Turup’s Departure
Former Al Ahly goalkeeper and sports commentator Ahmed Shobeir has shared insights into the situation at the club following the departure of Danish coach Jes Turup.
Turup left his position at Al Ahly by mutual consent, receiving five months of severance pay, effectively concluding his tenure with the team.
Shobeir remarked, “Many are asking me about what comes next for Al Ahly after Turup. Personally, I believe none of the currently rumored candidates will be appointed.”.
He further elaborated, “The most significant discussion within the club recently has been with Dutch coach Mark van Bommel. I have a strong surprise regarding Van Bommel that I won’t reveal now to avoid complicating matters further.”.
Additionally, Shobeir mentioned that there was a possibility of re-signing Hossam El Badry, but public discontent halted those discussions.
He concluded by stating, “It’s clear that Al Ahly has faced some challenges recently, but they are minor setbacks—like a car that has taken a hit and can be repaired. The club has been working to stabilize itself before the new season. What remains is to announce the restructuring of the football sector. There is also room to reconsider contract renewals for players based on their needs and flexibility, similar to what happened with Turup.”.
