Middle School Certificate Exam.

The Union of Egyptian Mothers for Educational Advancement and the Coalition of Parents monitored the Arabic language exam for middle school students across several governorates, which took place on Thursday, marking the first day of the second semester exams.

According to Abeer Ahmed, founder of the union, students in several governorates such as Giza, Luxor, Beni Suef, Port Said, and Damietta took the Arabic exam today. Other governorates, including Cairo, started with non-core subjects.

Abeer Ahmed noted that the Arabic exam was generally rated as average across most governorates. Parents reported that the Giza exam included both easy questions and some that required deeper thinking.

In Luxor, the Arabic exam was considered easy except for a few challenging points in a grammar question. The same sentiment was echoed by parents in Beni Suef.

Abeer Ahmed urged parents of middle school students to encourage their children to focus on upcoming exams without anxiety or stress, emphasizing the importance of creating a supportive environment at home. She wished all students success.

She also highlighted her ongoing support and communication with parents during exam periods each year, stressing that the middle school certificate is crucial for each student.

2026 Middle School Exams

The second-semester exams for the academic year 2025/2026 commenced on Thursday, with over 2 million students nationwide participating.

The education directorates have completed preparations for conducting these exams, which include formulating questions, printing them, preparing examination rooms, and appointing supervisors and correctors.

The exams will continue until next Thursday, June 11, 2026.

The results of these exams are significant as they determine the type of secondary education students will pursue—whether it be general secondary education or vocational training—and influence admission into specialized schools like STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) schools and other distinguished educational institutions.

The exams are conducted under a two-semester system with a total score of 280 points—140 points allocated for each semester—exclusively based on examination performance without considering continuous assessment grades.

Students need more than 200 points to qualify for general secondary schools or applied technology schools and over 250 points to gain admission into gifted schools.

Booklet System

Most governorates are utilizing a booklet system for middle school examinations as per Ministry of Education guidelines. This system aims to reduce cheating by combining question papers with answer sheets to prevent sharing through electronic platforms.

The Ministry of Education has emphasized strict control over middle school examinations and combating attempts at cheating by implementing Law No. 205 of 2020 regarding examination integrity and Ministerial Decision No. 24 of 2018 concerning cancellation or prohibition from exams.
