Ibrahim Hassan: Egypt Unfazed Ahead of World Cup, Aiming for New History
Ibrahim Hassan, the director of the Egyptian national team, stated that the coaching staff, led by Hossam Hassan, is working diligently to prepare the players during their training camp in the United States for the upcoming 2026 World Cup.
He noted that the team began its training immediately upon arrival and is conducting daily tactical lectures to cover various strategies. He emphasized that the current focus is on adjusting to the time difference, which poses both physical and mental challenges for the players. However, he reassured that the team is gradually acclimatizing to the conditions.
Hassan highlighted the significance of seizing this opportunity to participate in the World Cup, stressing that such moments are rare. He reflected on his own experience at the 1990 World Cup, where he expected a quick return but it did not happen. He urged players to cherish this chance and create a new chapter in Egypt’s football history.
The team’s ambition extends beyond merely making a respectable appearance; they aim for strong results and to progress through the tournament stages. He acknowledged that all participating teams are formidable, with no easy matches ahead against Belgium, Iran, or New Zealand.
He emphasized that the team does not focus on opponents’ names but rather on their own performance on the field. Respecting all teams without fear was a key point he made.
Regarding upcoming matches against top stars, he pointed out that football is a collective sport where every player relies on their teammates’ support. He expressed confidence in all squad members and their ability to deliver impressive performances.
Hassan concluded by affirming that team spirit is high and everyone is united with a common goal: to bring joy to Egyptian fans and achieve a historic milestone in the World Cup.
