Ibrahim Hassan: Egypt Aims to Make History at World Cup 2026
Ibrahim Hassan, the manager of the Egypt national football team, emphasized the significant responsibility that both the coaching staff and players carry as they prepare for the 2026 World Cup. He stated that their goal is to achieve a milestone that reflects the stature of Egyptian football and to write a new chapter in the team’s history on the global stage.
Hassan explained that the national team began its preparation program immediately upon arrival at their accommodation, allowing them to acclimate to the local conditions and time difference ahead of the tournament.
In an interview with ON Sport, he remarked, “We hope to deliver something great for Egypt at the World Cup 2026. We commenced training from day one and have a comprehensive program that includes both training sessions and technical lectures led by Hossam Hassan. We are also working on adjusting to the seven-hour time difference, which significantly affects focus and physical readiness.”.
He added that players are gradually adapting to their new environment, expressing confidence in their ability to reach peak physical and technical condition before official matches begin.
A Motivational Message for Players
The national team manager delivered an encouraging message to his players, urging them to seize the opportunity presented by participating in the World Cup and not take it for granted. He pointed out that such opportunities may not arise frequently throughout a player’s career.
“I always urge players to hold onto this chance and make the most of it because circumstances can change rapidly, and no one can guarantee participation in future tournaments. Injuries and other unforeseen events can prevent any player from realizing their dream; thus, everyone must live in the moment and appreciate its value,” he stated.
Hassan highlighted that participating in the World Cup is a tremendous honor for anyone wearing the Egyptian national team’s jersey, adding that Egyptian fans expect players to perform at a level befitting both the team’s name and its history.
Aiming for New Achievements
He affirmed that the coaching staff, under Hossam Hassan’s leadership, approaches this tournament with high ambitions. The team is not merely seeking a respectable appearance but aims to achieve outstanding results and create new achievements.
“It is a great honor for us as players to participate in the World Cup and then return as coaching staff. We understand the significance of this event and the weight of responsibility it carries; we know exactly what we want from this participation, and we will not squander this opportunity,” he asserted.
No Easy Matches
The national team manager stressed the difficulty of competing at the World Cup level, underscoring that all qualified teams have earned their places through merit.
“There are no easy matches in the World Cup; every team present has arrived after a strong journey, with many top teams failing to qualify. Therefore, no one should underestimate any opponent,” he cautioned.
He concluded his remarks by reiterating that all teams enter the tournament with aspirations of achieving greatness. “Everyone comes to the World Cup aiming for victory and making history, and we share this ambition. Our goal is to accomplish something historic and write a new chapter for Egyptian football in this tournament,” he said.
