Giza Governor Meets Chinese Delegation to Explore Investment Opportunities

Dr. Ahmed El Ansary, the Governor of Giza, welcomed Zhou Hongfei, the Deputy Mayor of the Chaozhou area from Jiaxing City in Zhejiang Province, China, along with his accompanying delegation to discuss bilateral relations and investment opportunities between Giza and the municipality.

During the meeting, the Governor emphasized the depth and strength of Egyptian-Chinese relations, which have been officially established for 70 years and have a historical significance that spans thousands of years. He noted that this relationship has successfully supported both countries in various international matters of mutual interest.

The Governor took the opportunity to introduce the delegation members to promising investment opportunities in Egypt, particularly in Giza. He highlighted the province’s diverse resources that can accommodate various agricultural, industrial, and tourism activities. Key infrastructure developments link Giza’s cities with modern amenities and connect them to Mediterranean and Red Sea ports via a high-speed train, as well as Sphinx Airport, which facilitates air transport for passengers and goods. He also mentioned the state’s support for investors through enabling legislation and policies designed to facilitate project launches and local, regional, and international partnerships.

Furthermore, he discussed the government’s commitment to attracting investments that would benefit Chinese investors by providing a low-cost investment market with extensive relationships and geographical advantages close to targeted markets in the Middle East, Africa, and Europe. He noted Egypt’s positive relations with countries worldwide and its participation in numerous trade agreements with various alliances aimed at reducing taxes on Egyptian goods produced within its cities. There are also several specialized industrial cities located within Giza.

In response, Zhou expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and reaffirmed his region’s commitment to enhancing cooperation with Egypt in general and specifically with Giza due to perceived investment opportunities that could bolster popular industries in Chaozhou known for textiles and advanced manufacturing as well as artificial intelligence.

Zhou praised the significant developments occurring within Egyptian cities, especially Giza, which is among the primary targets for establishing companies and cooperative programs.

Engineer Osama El Shahed, President of the Giza Chamber of Commerce, expressed enthusiasm for attending the meeting. He looked forward to forming strategic partnerships to create joint projects and leverage opportunities provided by both Egypt and Giza. He cited successful examples of Chinese investors who launched numerous projects across different sectors in Egypt achieving their targeted results within shorter-than-expected timeframes.

The Governor tasked the President of the Giza Chamber of Commerce with addressing inquiries from delegation members promptly while establishing permanent communication channels with Chaozhou’s government to promote investment opportunities in Giza and meet investor needs effectively.

The meeting was attended by Mohamed Marai, Assistant Secretary-General; Wael Shaaban, Head of Central Administration for Office Affairs; Engineer Walid Abdel Latif, Assistant Governor; Engineer Said Zaghloul, Treasurer of the Giza Chamber of Commerce; Magdy Arabi, Board Member of the Giza Chamber; Major General Tamer Attawia, Secretary-General of the Giza Chamber; along with members from Zhou’s delegation including Tsao Qi Bin, Director General of Finance Office in Chaozhou; Gao Fang, Director General of Transport Office in Chaozhou; Shen Wu Yan, Mayor of Wangjiangjing; Liu Yuan Zhao Deputy Director General of Economic Development Office at Wangjiangjing Government.
