Written byFerdous Saeed

Coach Luis de la Fuente has announced the official lineup for Spain’s upcoming match against Saudi Arabia in the second round of the group stage at the 2026 World Cup.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 7 PM Cairo and Mecca time, as part of Group H, which also includes Uruguay and Cape Verde. This group is characterized by its competitive balance following the results of the first round.

Spain’s Starting XI Against Saudi Arabia

In a notable decision, De la Fuente has opted to start young star Lamine Yamal in the attacking line after he came on as a substitute in Spain’s opening match against Cape Verde, which ended in a goalless draw.

The Spanish team enters this match under pressure due to their failure to secure a win in their opening game, where they struggled significantly to penetrate defenses. However, there was a noticeable improvement in performance after Yamal’s introduction in the second half.

De la Fuente and his coaching staff are eager to quickly correct their course and regain winning momentum, especially since any further setback could jeopardize the team’s position in the qualification race amidst a balanced group featuring strong competition among all teams after their first-round draws.
