Herve Renard, the head coach of the Tunisian national team, has raised the challenge flag ahead of their upcoming match against Japan in the 2026 World Cup.

Tunisia is set to face Japan at the BBVA Stadium on Sunday morning, as part of the second round of group stage matches in the tournament.

Under Renard’s leadership, Tunisia aims to bounce back from a heavy 5-1 defeat to Sweden in their opening match of the World Cup.

During a press conference, Renard stated, “The players are determined to respond strongly against Japan. Everyone understands the responsibility and knows how crucial it is to restore confidence among our fans.”.

He added, “I urge Tunisian fans to continue supporting us and to hold on to hope for qualification. It is clear that both the players and coaching staff fully recognize the significance of this moment and the desire of the Tunisian people to see their team compete vigorously.”.

Renard continued, “Am I a magician? There are no magicians in football; it requires hard work and preparation. You need to be good and effective during critical moments.”.

He concluded by emphasizing that “football knows no impossibilities,” referencing positive results achieved by some African teams against major competitors in the tournament. He expressed confidence that Tunisia could also write a new chapter and revive its hopes in the World Cup.
