Chelsea Fans Prefer Enzo Fernandez to Stay Amid Transfer Speculations

Written byFerdous Saeed

Chelsea supporters have expressed a strong preference for Enzo Fernandez to remain at Stamford Bridge this summer. Following Marc Cucurella’s recent transfer to Real Madrid, attention is now shifting towards whether Fernandez might also make a move to the Bernabeu.

Despite currently preparing to represent Argentina at the World Cup, Fernandez has openly indicated his interest in joining Madrid in the past.

Reports suggest that BlueCo is seeking a fee of £120 million for any potential sale, while newly appointed head coach Xabi Alonso remains open to including the midfielder in his plans.

As part of the recent Sports Mole Keep or Sell Series, Chelsea fans were surveyed on which players they believe should stay or leave during the summer transfer window.

Do Chelsea fans want to keep Fernandez?

The survey results revealed that only 53% of participating Chelsea fans would prefer to retain the services of the World Cup winner. The debate over keeping a player who has amassed 31 goals and 30 assists during his three-and-a-half-year tenure has sparked mixed opinions among supporters.

With six years remaining on his contract, there seems to be a consensus that Fernandez should be given at least one more season under Alonso’s management.

Fernandez’s future may depend on whether Real Madrid is willing to exceed the £106.8 million fee that Chelsea agreed upon at the beginning of 2023.

What’s next in the Fernandez saga?

For now, his primary focus is on helping Argentina secure an opening victory at the World Cup when they take on Algeria on Tuesday night. Meanwhile, reports indicate that Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho and club executives are weighing their options regarding potential central midfield signings.

Xabi Alonso will also need to assess whether there is room for Fernandez in his starting lineup, with discussions arising around how he fits into formations such as 4-2-3-1 or 3-4-3.
