Dr. Youssef Al-Kazem Launches ‘Dr. Kazem Nouri’ Volunteer Award, Applications Open Until August 15, 2026

Dr. Youssef bin Ali Al-Kazem, President of the Arab Volunteer Union, has announced the launch of the “Dr. Kazem Nouri” Volunteer Award. This initiative aims to promote a culture of volunteering and reinforce values of giving and social responsibility while encouraging sustainable humanitarian and developmental initiatives at both international and Arab levels.

In his announcement, Dr. Al-Kazem emphasized that the award is intended to honor the outstanding efforts made by individuals and organizations in serving communities and supporting humanitarian and developmental work. He noted that the award seeks to recognize inspiring examples in volunteerism and stimulate further initiatives contributing to sustainable development and community cohesion.

The award is named after Dr. Kazem Nouri in recognition of his significant contributions to supporting volunteer work and fostering a culture of community service, acknowledging the vital role played by volunteers and community organizations in building societies and enhancing human development.

Dr. Al-Kazem explained that the award aims to spread and entrench the culture of volunteerism as a human, social, and developmental value, motivating individuals and organizations to design and implement impactful volunteer initiatives with tangible outcomes. It also seeks to highlight inspiring Arab and international models in volunteerism and community service while supporting qualitative initiatives that utilize volunteering as a tool for development, empowerment, and community improvement.

Moreover, the award aims to strengthen partnerships between the private sector, public sector, and relevant international organizations while attracting youth to engage in volunteer initiatives. It will also enhance their leadership and community skills while promoting innovation and digital transformation in serving volunteerism and community efforts. Additionally, it aims to document successful experiences and practices while providing replicable models for expansion.

The award will be granted across four main levels: international level, Arab level, institutional or individual specialized level, and moral recognition level.

Nine primary specialized fields are covered by the award: health and humanitarian work; education and capacity building; environment and sustainability; relief and emergency response; youth and women empowerment; care for vulnerable groups; culture and heritage; community media promoting volunteerism; social innovation; and digital transformation.

The award targets a broad range of participants including individual volunteers, community initiative leaders, non-profit organizations, academic institutions, health institutions, government bodies, private sector entities with social responsibility programs, community initiatives, volunteer alliances, as well as international and regional organizations.

Additionally, there is an exceptional recognition category awarded to prominent humanitarian figures, community leaders supporting global volunteer work, along with initiatives demonstrating extraordinary impact based on recommendations from the evaluation committee approved by the union.

Dr. Al-Kazem invited all individuals, institutions, agencies, and organizations involved in volunteerism to participate in the award process. He encouraged them to take advantage of this platform aimed at highlighting successful experiences while exchanging knowledge to enhance a culture of volunteering at both Arab and international levels.

The award is set to officially launch on June 15, 2026. The application process will be opened via the official website which will provide all necessary conditions, criteria, and submission procedures. The final date for submitting applications is August 15, 2026.

Dr. Al-Kazem affirmed that this award represents a qualitative addition to the journey of volunteer work both regionally and internationally. It will help spotlight outstanding initiatives while honoring those who achieve remarkable humanitarian contributions within communities—strengthening volunteering as a fundamental pillar for sustainable development.
