USA Tops Group D Standings in 2026 World Cup After Opening Matches

The United States men’s national soccer team has taken the lead in Group D of the 2026 World Cup standings following the conclusion of the first round of group matches.

Group D includes the United States, Australia, Paraguay, and Turkey, showcasing an intense start to the tournament with early competition among teams.

Current Standings After Round One:

1. United States – 3 points.

2. Australia – 3 points.

3. Turkey – 0 points.

4. Paraguay – 0 points.

The United States secured a significant victory against Paraguay with a score of 4-1, earning their first three points and sitting at the top of the group due to goal difference.

Meanwhile, Australia kicked off their campaign with an important win over Turkey, finishing 2-0 in a match held in Vancouver. Nestory Erankonda opened the scoring in the 27th minute, followed by Connor Metcalfe’s second goal in the 75th minute.

The Australian team demonstrated clear dominance throughout the match, controlling play effectively while Turkey struggled to convert their opportunities into goals.
