The first half of the match between Switzerland and Qatar concluded on Saturday evening, with the Swiss team leading 1-0 in their opening game of the group stage at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The match is being held at the “San Francisco Bay” stadium as part of Group B of the tournament.

Switzerland took an early lead in the game, scoring in the 17th minute. The goal came from a penalty awarded to Switzerland after a foul by Qatar’s goalkeeper Mahmoud Abu Nadi on player Remo Freuler inside the box, a decision confirmed by VAR.
