Written byFerdous Saeed

The Egyptian national football team, led by head coach Hossam Hassan, departs today from Spokane, Washington, to Seattle in preparation for their highly anticipated match against Belgium in the opening round of the 2026 World Cup group stage.

The “Pharaohs” will kick off their tournament campaign with a challenging encounter against the Belgian team on June 15, aiming for a positive start that enhances their chances of advancing to the next round.

Following the match against Belgium, the squad is scheduled to return to Spokane before continuing their journey to Vancouver for their second group stage match against New Zealand. This travel itinerary demands a high level of organization and physical readiness from the players and coaching staff.

Estimates indicate that the Egyptian team will cover approximately 10,000 kilometers during the group stage alone due to travel between host cities. The total direct flight time is expected to exceed 20 hours, not including transfers between airports, accommodation locations, training facilities, and match venues.

Moreover, it is anticipated that the total movement and travel time for the team will surpass 40 hours within a short period, presenting additional challenges for the coaching and medical staff to maintain players’ physical and technical readiness throughout the tournament’s first round.

Coach Hossam Hassan is counting on a strong performance against Belgium as they continue their group stage journey with hopes of a commendable showing from the Egyptian national team in this World Cup edition.
