Written byNoha El Shafie

Dr. Ahmed El Ansary, the Governor of Giza, emphasized the strategic significance of the newly opened Magdi Yacoub Global Heart Center in October Gardens. He noted that the center enhances Giza’s and Egypt’s status on the global medical tourism map, particularly for heart disease and surgery treatments. The facility is also expected to support scientific research and training programs while significantly improving medical services for heart patients.

El Ansary made these remarks during his visit to the center on Wednesday, where he explored its medical services and treatment offerings. He was welcomed by Sir Magdi Yacoub, the renowned heart surgeon, along with Dr. Magdi Ishaq, founder and chairman of the Magdi Yacoub Foundation for Heart Diseases and Research, members of the foundation’s board, and center officials.

During his visit, El Ansary expressed pride in Giza hosting such a significant scientific and medical establishment. He conveyed his personal joy at meeting Sir Magdi Yacoub, recognizing him as one of Egypt’s prominent figures in medicine globally and commending his contributions to science and humanitarian efforts.

In response, Sir Magdi Yacoub welcomed the governor and expressed appreciation for El Ansary’s achievements throughout his career in various executive roles and his ongoing efforts in public service.

The two discussed enhancing cooperation between the foundation and Giza Governorate to maximize benefits for citizens. El Ansary toured various sections of the center with Dr. Ishaq to learn about its services.

The governor praised the significant progress made through the establishment of the center, highlighting its advanced medical capabilities and qualified medical staff that contribute to fulfilling its objectives.

El Ansary called for prompt consideration of several requests submitted by the center’s administration regarding environmental and administrative procedures as well as utility work within the governorate.

While touring the facility, he learned from Dr. Ishaq about its capabilities and operational plans. The new center aims to provide medical services that are three times greater than those offered at Aswan Center. Spanning 35 acres, it is designed to accommodate approximately 120,000 patients annually.

Dr. Ishaq added that the center features 35 outpatient clinics, 10 operating rooms, and catheterization laboratories capable of performing around 1,200 surgeries annually. It also includes 300 beds—40% allocated for intensive care and 60% for inpatient care—and offers around 1,750 training opportunities each year across various medical and technical specialties.
