Written byFerdous Saeed

Portuguese star Bernardo Silva has addressed his footballing future following his departure from Manchester City, emphasizing that he has yet to make a final decision regarding his next destination. His name has been linked with a potential move to Spanish club Barcelona in the near future.

Silva Leaves His Future Uncertain

Silva concluded a lengthy nine-year tenure at Manchester City under the management of Pep Guardiola, during which he achieved significant success, including six Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League in 2023. The Portuguese player now departs from the Etihad Stadium after one of the most successful periods in his modern career.

In a recent press statement, Bernardo Silva said, “I haven’t decided on my next destination yet. I am looking for a club that wants to sign me and gives me an influential role within the team, as that is the most important thing for me.”.

Regarding a possible transfer to Barcelona, Silva refrained from confirming any future steps, clarifying: “I cannot say anything for certain right now. Barcelona is one of the options, but I haven’t made my final decision; everything is possible.”.

Meanwhile, his agent Jorge Mendes revealed that the player will postpone finalizing his future until after the 2026 World Cup, indicating that no decisions will be made before the tournament concludes.

Media reports suggest that Barcelona may face financial hurdles if they wish to acquire Silva due to salary cap restrictions within the club. This could prevent them from making an offer that exceeds what Silva earned at Manchester City.

The Portuguese national team is placed in Group F for the 2026 World Cup alongside Ireland, Hungary, and Armenia—a group that appears relatively balanced in terms of competition.
