Egypt’s Agriculture Minister Invites Saudi Officials to Explore Export Facilities

Minister of egypts-ministry-of-agriculture-administers-6-8-million-vaccines-against-foot-and-mouth-disease/">Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Alaa Farouk, held a bilateral meeting with Dr. Osama Faqih, the Deputy Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture from Saudi Arabia. The discussion focused on enhancing cooperation between the two nations in agriculture, food security, and environmental protection.

During the meeting, Farouk emphasized the deep historical and fraternal ties between Egypt and Saudi Arabia. He reiterated the commitment to continuous coordination and efforts aimed at achieving agricultural and environmental integration that supports sustainable development plans in both countries.

The two sides highlighted the importance of unifying positions between Egypt and Saudi Arabia in international forums, particularly regarding the implementation of international agreements to combat desertification. They stressed the need to form a permanent joint technical committee between their ministries of agriculture to ensure ongoing collaboration across all areas of cooperation. This committee will also prepare for participation in the upcoming Desertification Conference scheduled to be held in Mongolia later this year.

Both officials agreed on the necessity of maintaining a joint coordination committee led by the agriculture ministers from both countries to monitor developments and coordinate efforts related to the agricultural sector. This initiative aims to enhance integration and food security for both nations.

Farouk extended an invitation to Saudi officials, technicians, and investors to visit Egyptian facilities and farms dedicated to exports, including agricultural products and poultry. He emphasized the importance of showcasing compliance with high standards of quality and biosecurity while fostering investment opportunities between the two brotherly nations across various agricultural activities.

The minister underscored the strategic importance of enhancing joint agricultural investments in Africa due to its vast arable land and abundant water resources. He noted that directing Egyptian and Saudi investments towards Africa is a crucial step toward achieving regional food security while addressing global challenges stemming from climate change and supply chain disruptions.

Farouk stated that integrating Egyptian technical expertise with Saudi capital investments in Africa could foster sustainable developmental partnerships benefiting the entire region.

The two sides also agreed to proceed with renewing their cooperation agreement in veterinary services, facilitating trade movement while protecting livestock in both countries. They discussed opportunities for joint cooperation in improving cattle breeds as well as leveraging Egyptian experience in land reclamation.
