Written byFerdous Saeed

The Egyptian national team is intensifying its preparations for an upcoming friendly match against Brazil, which serves as the final warm-up before the 2026 World Cup. Team captain Mohamed Salah is taking the opportunity to motivate his teammates and fans ahead of this highly anticipated global event.

Salah emphasized that his ambitions for the upcoming World Cup extend beyond mere participation; he aims for an achievement that surpasses Egypt’s previous performances. He stressed that the team possesses both the desire and determination to advance far in the tournament.

In statements shared on the Adidas Arabia account, Salah delivered a special message to younger players, encouraging them to hold onto their dreams and trust in their abilities. He underscored that self-belief is the first step towards achieving any goal, no matter how daunting it may seem.

The Egyptian captain also reflected on his early aspirations of participating in the World Cup, noting that thoughts of qualifying had crossed his mind for many years, particularly during the era of Egypt’s golden generation when the national team failed to secure a spot in the global championship.

Salah pointed out that not qualifying for the World Cup had been a lingering concern within the team for years, which fueled his dream of leading Egypt to this prestigious event. He admitted he never expected the Pharaohs to reach the tournament more than once during his international career.

These remarks come as the national team continues its technical and physical preparations, with a strong test against Brazil scheduled for early Sunday morning, just ahead of their official World Cup kickoff.

Last week, Egypt secured a morale-boosting friendly victory over Russia, winning 1-0 in Cairo. This result provided a significant boost to the coaching staff as they gear up for future matches.

The Pharaohs are set to compete in Group G of the World Cup alongside Belgium, Iran, and New Zealand. They will begin their campaign against Belgium on June 15, followed by a match against New Zealand on June 22, and conclude group play with a game against Iran on June 27.
