The fight holds significant importance for both fighters as they aim to solidify their positions in the Russian rankings and enhance their chances of competing on the international stage. This clash is one of the highlights on the undercard, which features Russian Murad Gassiev defending his World Heavyweight title against Frenchman Tony Yoka.
Yaliev enters this contest with a record of 17 wins, including 11 by knockout, and only one loss, which came against Yoka by judges’ decision after ten rounds in Paris in May 2025.
Yaliev expressed confidence ahead of the fight, stating, “I feel really good, and I know my opponent well due to mutual friends. There are no personal issues here. Khalidov is a strong boxer with a remarkable fighting spirit, and I believe we will deliver a strong performance worthy of this event. I’m excited to have the opportunity to appear on such a big stage.”.
On the other hand, Khalidov approaches this match undefeated, boasting a record of 12 victories, six of which were achieved by knockout. He views this bout as a crucial step towards vying for global titles.
Khalidov commented, “I treat this fight like any other professional obligation. Yaliev is one of the prominent names in Russian boxing and was ranked above me before I recently surpassed him. This match is an opportunity to prove that my rise was not a fluke.”.
He added, “At this stage in my career, I don’t underestimate any opponent. I prepare for every fight as if it were my last. Participating on a card that includes a major bout like Gassiev vs. Yoka is an honor and a significant opportunity for me. I’m determined to return to contention for one of the major world titles.”.
Khalidov also mentioned that he expects substantial fan support in Moscow, where he has lived and trained for several years. He noted that fighting in the Russian capital gives him a feeling akin to competing at home among his supporters.
The “IBA PRO 19” event is organized under the International Boxing Association and features some of the top names in professional boxing, highlighted by Gassiev vs. Yoka for the heavyweight title, along with several bouts showcasing elite fighters looking to enhance their presence on the international scene.
