Written byFerdous Saeed

Former Egyptian goalkeeper Essam El-Hadary shared his insights on the national team’s upcoming journey in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, set to take place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The Egyptian team, under the management of Hossam Hassan, is placed in Group G alongside Belgium, Iran, and New Zealand.

The tournament will run from June 11 to July 10, marking a historic moment as it will feature 48 teams for the first time.

El-Hadary commented on Egypt’s group dynamics, stating: “It’s neither too difficult nor too easy. I hope Egypt finishes first, but I expect the standings to be: Belgium in first place and Egypt second.”.

Speaking on ON Sport, he added: “Iran has significant capabilities and is not an easy team at all; they have players in Serie A and other leagues. Egypt will reach the Round of 32 and face Turkey, which they will win, but then they will meet Argentina in the Round of 16, and that’s where our journey ends.”.
