Egypt’s Health Minister Discusses Transfer of Blood Test Technology

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Egypt’s Minister of Health and Population, held a meeting with representatives from the global companies DIAGAST, which specializes in blood typing reagents, and Think Pro for Medical Services. The discussions focused on collaboration opportunities and the transfer of advanced technology to Egypt.

During the meeting, the minister emphasized the political leadership’s commitment to localizing biomedical industries, particularly in blood transfusion services, to achieve self-sufficiency and enhance national health security. The parties discussed establishing a strategic partnership to create local production lines utilizing the latest global technologies possessed by DIAGAST, in collaboration with Think Pro, to ensure high-accuracy and sustainable quality blood typing reagents.

The minister directed the swift development of a comprehensive action plan for technology transfer and training Egyptian medical and technical personnel on the latest blood typing examination systems. He noted that this collaboration would enhance the efficiency and safety of blood transfusion services and support the country’s vision of transforming Egypt into a regional hub for manufacturing and exporting medical and diagnostic supplies to African and Middle Eastern markets.

Attending the meeting were Dr. Mohamed Hassany, Assistant Minister for Public Health Initiatives; Major General Amr Aaid, Assistant Minister for Information Systems and Digital Transformation; Dr. Fatma Shoman, Head of the Central Administration for Blood Transfusion Operations; and Dr. Susan Zanati, Director General of External Health Relations.
