The Media Center of the Ministry of Local Development and Environment has released its 191st weekly infographic, highlighting key activities and events led by Dr. Manal Awad, the Minister of Local Development and Environment, covering significant developmental and environmental projects from May 29 to June 4, 2026.

Saturday, May 30, 2026

Dr. Manal Awad monitored the outcomes of the second meeting of the Green Climate Fund Committee, chaired by the Environmental Affairs Agency under the leadership of Dr. Saber Osman, who oversees the Central Administration for Climate Change. She emphasized the need to accelerate work on climate financing and maximize Egypt’s benefits from concessional funding and grants provided by the Green Climate Fund, highlighting the ministry’s role as the national coordinator for this fund in Egypt.

Additionally, Dr. Awad received a report on the efforts of the National Emergency and Public Safety Network Control Center in responding to citizen complaints via social media, alongside ongoing monitoring of essential services and facilities across various governorates.

Dr. Manal Awad announced the commencement of the thirty-sixth training week at the Local Development Center in Saqqara, scheduled from June 1 to June 4, 2026. This training session resumes after the Eid al-Adha holiday as part of the training plan for fiscal year 2025/2026, aimed at enhancing local administration employees’ professional skills and improving service delivery to citizens.

Monday, June 1, 2026

Dr. Manal Awad welcomed Major General Dr. Mostafa Al-Beblawi, Governor of Qena, at the ministry’s headquarters in New Capital. This meeting is part of regular sessions between the minister and governors to review progress on developmental projects and assess implementation rates for crucial directives impacting citizens’ lives.

Moreover, Dr. Awad chaired a meeting for steering committee overseeing technical support projects funded by the European Union in collaboration with UNDP across four governorates: Fayoum, Beni Suef, Luxor, and Aswan. The focus is on decentralization and integrated local development with an emphasis on Upper Egypt.

Tuesday, June 2, 2026

Dr. Manal Awad chaired a meeting for steering committee on “Green Sharm,” aimed at transforming Sharm El-Sheikh into a sustainable green city. Present were Major General Dr. Ismail Kamal, Governor of South Sinai, and Ms. Chitose Noguchi, UNDP Resident Representative in Egypt. The session reviewed project implementation status and future work plans.

Additionally, she held a comprehensive meeting with Dr. Khaled Fahmy, Executive Director of the Arab Region & Europe Environmental Development Center (CEDARE), along with representatives from an environmental consulting firm to discuss plans for developing Blue Hole in Abu Galum Nature Reserve in South Sinai while balancing natural resource preservation with economic benefits from eco-tourism.

Dr. Awad also participated in a meeting led by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly to review service projects in Alexandria to enhance service levels for citizens attended by Alexandria Governor Ayman Attia.

Wednesday, June 3, 2026

Dr. Manal Awad met with Badr Wael Al-Ajil Al-Askar, Secretary-General of the Arab Towns Organization along with his delegation at her office in New Capital to discuss areas for cooperation and sharing successful experiences in local administration and environmental sectors that would enhance service quality for citizens.

On behalf of Dr. Awad, Engineer Sherif Abdel Rahim chaired the fourth meeting of the Board of Directors for transforming climate-related financial systems project (TFSC) to monitor technical progress and future action plans attended by Clemence Vidal de la Blache from French Development Agency and other notable representatives.

Dr. Awad also received Dr. Ibrahim Saber Governor of Cairo at her office to review ongoing developmental issues impacting citizens’ lives while aligning with political leadership directives regarding service improvements in Cairo.

She also met with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly at New Capital to discuss enhancing field monitoring systems efficiency related to public services delivery attended by relevant officials.

Thursday, June 4 ,2026

Dr . Manal Awad held a meeting with Dr . Mahmoud Hanafi , scientific research advisor at HEPCA (Hurghada Environmental Protection & Conservation Association) , alongside Eng . Nour Farid , director of HEPCA , focusing on efforts to protect marine environments in Red Sea while strengthening cooperation with civil society organizations involved in natural resource conservation initiatives . They reviewed several projects aimed at preserving coral reefs , marine life , solid waste management , supporting local communities .

She also welcomed several members from both houses of Parliament at her office to discuss vital issues related to public services across various governorates attended by Major General Hamdy El-Gazar , advisor for parliamentary councils .

Dr . Manal Awad also participated in a weekly government meeting held at New Capital under Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly’s chairmanship discussing various important topics .
