Senegal fell to France with a score of 3-1 in their opening match of the group stage, held on Tuesday night at MetLife Stadium.
In an interview with beIN Sports following the match, Thiaw remarked, “We came away with several positives despite the loss.”.
He added, “In such matches, any missed opportunity can come back to haunt you with a goal. When you make individual mistakes against strong teams, you will be punished.”.
Thiaw noted that while France’s players do not need many chances to score, Senegal could have taken a two-goal lead in the first half but lacked effectiveness.
He concluded, “We have two matches left, and we must continue to work hard to secure six points.”.
Senegal’s next match in the group stage will be against Norway, who faces Iraq in their opening game. The match is scheduled for June 23 at 3 AM local time in Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
