Written byFerdous Saeed

Former Zamalek star Tarek Yahya shared his insights on Egypt’s preparations and ambitions for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

In an exclusive interview with Al-Aweek, Yahya expressed that if he were in charge of the national team, he would include player Aqtai in the squad for the tournament, highlighting his talent and potential to contribute significantly.

Yahya emphasized that Aqtai is still young and has ample opportunity to prove himself, whether with his current club Enppi or another team. He noted that Aqtai possesses the skills and time necessary to make a strong comeback to represent Egypt in the 2030 World Cup.

The former Zamalek player believes that Egypt has the capability to create surprises during the World Cup, suggesting that the team could advance past the group stage, potentially finishing second in their group behind Belgium and continuing into the knockout rounds.

Yahya concluded by stating that goalkeeper Mostafa Shobeir is well-suited to guard Egypt’s goal in upcoming matches, praising his impressive performances with Al Ahly recently as making him a viable choice for the national team.
