Messi’s Hat-Trick Leads Argentina to Dominant Win Over Algeria in World Cup 2026

Argentina began its title defense in the best possible way, achieving a resounding 3-0 victory over Algeria in their opening match of the 2026 World Cup group stage, held across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The Argentine team is placed in Group D alongside Algeria, Jordan, and Austria, securing their first three points in the tournament.

Captain Lionel Messi showcased his brilliance by scoring the opening goal in the 17th minute. He launched a powerful shot from outside the penalty area that goalkeeper Luca Zidane could not stop, putting Argentina ahead.

Messi continued to shine in the second half, netting a second goal in the 60th minute. He completed his hat-trick with a strong shot in the 76th minute, further solidifying Argentina’s dominance in the match.

With this victory, Argentina tops Group D with three points, while Algeria remains without any points following their first loss of the tournament. The group stage continues with a match between Jordan and Austria.
